Windsurfing, a water sport practiced using a windsurfing board on which a mast with a sail is mounted. A boom is used to operate the sail. Furthermore, under the board there is a fin.
In 1982, the English Supreme Court ruled that 12-year-old Peter Chilvers had designed a 1958 prototype sailboard. But the work on plank sailing, however, was delivered by American Jim Drake and Hoyle Schweitzer. NASA engineer Jim Drake himself first experimented with new forms of sails. In the late 1960s, Drake met wave surfer Hoyle Schweitzer. The first boards for windsurfing appeared on the European market in 1972.
