Buying the right wetsuit

Surfing, sailing and swimming are well-known water sports that are practiced. However, wetsuits today are also used in sport diving, canoeing and the infamous triathlon. Water sports are becoming increasingly popular. In these sports, it is important to have proper equipment. One of these is a wetsuit. This surf suit protects your body from the cold of the water and the wind, as well as from any rocks and other obstacles in the water.
If you want to buy a wetsuit, the most important thing is to get the right fit. A surf suit that is too big will slobber and will not keep your body sufficiently warm. The idea is to keep your body warm with a small layer of water to maintain your body temperature. Too big a size will leave too much water in the wetsuit. A surf suit that is too small will pinch, preventing you from practicing your sport properly. The fabric from which wetsuits are made is called neoprene and prevents hypothermia. This fabric can be single-lined or double-lined. The former allows for more freedom of movement, while the latter obviously provides more protection. You can also, of course, option the different styles while buying a wetsuit.

Buying accessories for a wetsuit

In addition to buying a wetsuit, you can also think about surf shoes and surf gloves to prevent hypothermia as much as possible. They also provide the ultimate grip and safe sports experience. Buy a wetsuit with matching accessories for your beloved water sport. Filter between the different brands to create a fashionable and sporty outfit!

At Watersporters.com, we have a wetsuit for every water sport that can be practiced. Whether you kitesurf, wakeboard or kayak, we have suits for you in a variety of styles, fits and price ranges.
In recent years, water sports have become increasingly popular. Wetsuits or surf suits are essential when practicing any water sport. They protect you from hypothermia in the, usually cold, water. The suit first lets in a small layer of water that is then warmed by the body.

Which wetsuit suits you best?

There are a number of factors that are very important when buying a wetsuit. Not every surf suit fits a particular water sport.

  • Make sure the suit fits well, otherwise a wetsuit will not be effective. However, do not go for a model that is too tight, as comfort is also important. You need to be able to move freely in your wetsuit to practice your sport to its ultimate potential.
  • There are different types of wetsuits, each with its own advantages. A Shorty is usually made of a thinner material and has short legs and sleeves. Should you still prefer to be fully covered, you can go for a Full wetsuit, also known as a Steamer. The in-between is a Shortarm, a wetsuit with short sleeves and long legs. There is also a difference in fabrics. Wetsuits are made of neoprene, in which two lines can be distinguished; single-lined and double-lined. Single-lined is warmer, but at the same time more fragile.
  • Certain sports require a certain dexterity. Surf suits with a backzip provide more freedom of movement and better waterproofing. Front zips, on the other hand, are easier to put on. So think carefully about what you are looking for in a wetsuit and buy your perfect mix in our webshop!
