When you go to the beach you always see someone flying kites. It has been around for thousands of years and is still popular. In the past, kites were used to measure distances. Japan even won wars with these aerial objects! Hundreds of years later, inventors found out that you can also use kites to make meteorological observations. Around 1900, kites were so powerful that they could pull people into the air. This was also used for military purposes. All these years, kites have also always been used for recreation.

Types of kites

Everyone knows what the standard, original kite looks like. The diamond shape is recognized everywhere and already has many variants and colors. Of course, kites have evolved tremendously over the years. They are no longer made of wood, cotton and string. Most kites are made of glass or plastic fiber, spinnaker cloth and Dyneema as the kite line. Stunt kites and mattress kites are made of a stronger material than children's kites, for example. This is to increase the durability and safety of the kite. Children's kites are also often for decoration and not steerable. Stunt kites have multiple lines that allow you to do tricks. Mattress kites are used with different sports. For example, we have depower kites and snow kites in our assortment.

The rules of kite flying

Over the years, kite flying has developed a number of rules. There are even offenses included in the law. Namely, you are not allowed to fly your kite within 500 meters of an overhead high-voltage power line. It is also forbidden to leave your kite higher than 100 meters and not at all in low-flying areas or within 3 kilometers of an aerodrome. In addition to official rules, there are also safety rules.

  • - No kite should ever be flown above people or animals.
  • - Keep an eye on your lines, as they can be incredibly sharp
  • - Do not kite during thunder/lightning or in severe weather.
  • - Do not jump with the kite or allow yourself to be pulled up with it if you are not a professional. After all, you can end up ugly!
