The main purpose of a mast is durability. Of course we care about performance, but our focus is on durability so the masts last a long time.

This is one of the reasons why we decided to make the masts 96% carbon for performance, and we use 4% other materials to increase durability. Moreover, after many years of testing, we have found that adding some glass fibers to the mast gives the right flexibility and softness in the surfer's hands, making the feeling while surfing more comfortable and therefore often faster.
